Participation

All who completed requirements for a graduate degree during the Summer 2008 and Fall 2008 conferral periods and candidates who plan to complete degree requirements by the end of the Spring 2009 semester are encouraged to participate in the Commencement ceremony.

Those who already have completed or plan to complete graduate degree requirements during the Spring 2009 degree conferral period must apply for their degrees on-line no later than April 3rd using the PeopleSoft student administration system. Once that has been done, Spring 2009 degree candidates may continue with the process outlined below to prepare to participate in the Commencement ceremony.

If you plan to participate in the graduate Commencement ceremony, please complete and submit on-line the Participant Confirmation Form no later than April 3rd. Online completion and submission of this form is required to insure that a seat will be reserved for you at the ceremony and to authorize the release of guest tickets to you.

The estimated duration of the Commencement ceremony is two hours. The Commencement Committee respectfully requests that participants and members of the audience remain seated throughout the conferral of degrees and the recessional of the administration and faculty.

Academic Regalia

Participants in the Commencement ceremony are required to wear the cap, gown, and hood appropriate for the University of Connecticut degree being conferred. Souvenir academic regalia is available from the UConn Co-op (click here for the order form and instructions). Orders for regalia to be shipped or mailed must be received by the Co-op by April 3rd. Souvenir regalia also may be purchased at the UConn Co-op. Doctoral candidates may place orders for permanent regalia (example) in the custom University of Connecticut design by calling the UConn Co-op by March 9th at (860) 486-2653.

Participants in the commencement ceremony must provide their own Souvenir regalia purchased in advance from the UConn Co-op or their own academic regalia purchased privately. Regalia to be used in the ceremony must conform to this description.
