A Scholar’s Life

The Graduate School is committed to creating a supportive environment within which you can pursue your educational goals. You likely will discover the myriad of ways in which graduate study differs from the undergraduate experience, placing far more responsibility on you to navigate the intellectual, social, and operational landscape. Along with other campus departments and students organizations, we actively work to extend and enrich the community of scholars by fostering a positive academic and social community for you as a scholar. The department of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) within the graduate school is charged with overseeing this goal.

GSPA also organizes orientation for new students, assists with commencement activities for The Graduate School and advises graduate student organizations. The Assistant Dean and Program Directors provide information, advice and advocacy for all students in the Graduate School regarding personal concerns and student life issues, including the delivery of University services and life at UCONN. Graduate and professional students and postdocs and their spouses and partners are generally welcome to participate in all the programming of the Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs Office.

Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) GSPA specifically focuses on four key areas:
