Executive Committee Meeting Minutes: June 8, 2001

2:15 P.M.

  1. The meeting was called to order at 2:25 P.M. Associate Vice Provost James G. Henkel presided.
  2. It was moved, seconded, and passed without dissent on a voice vote to approve as distributed the minutes of the
    05-11-2001 meeting.
  3. It was moved, seconded, and passed without dissent on a voice vote to approve the list of Plans of Study and
    Dissertation Proposals.
  4. A proposal to implement a Master of Science degree program (Plan B) in a new Field of Study to be called Survey
    Research was considered and discussed. A question was raised about the appropriateness of the Master of Science
    degree title as opposed to Master of Arts.

    Following discussion, G. Anderson moved that the proposal be approved as a Master of Arts (not Master of Science)
    degree program in a new Field of Study to be called Survey Research. The motion was seconded and it passed
    without dissent on a voice vote.

  6. There was discussion about the use of Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading for GRAD 395 and 495 (Thesis and
    Dissertation Research) courses.
  7. Adjournment was at 3:15 P.M.
