What is the 3MT® Three Minute Thesis?
Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) celebrates the exciting research conducted by Doctoral students around the world. Developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), the competition cultivates students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills. Presenting in a 3MT® competition increases your capacity to effectively explain your research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to an intelligent non-specialist audience.
How to Compete?
The Graduate School is pleased to announce this year’s three-minute thesis (3MT) competition which will be held on Thursday the 12th of August 2021 6-7pm (EDT).
First developed by the University of Queensland in 2008, the Three Minute Thesis competition challenges research students to communicate the significance of their projects to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes. The winner of this year’s competition will have the opportunity to submit their presentation to the international competition (virtual) in September. Competitors must be in a UConn Ph.D. program and have completed at least one full year of coursework and be working on a research project. Competitors are allowed one PowerPoint slide, but no other resources or props. Information will be forthcoming on 2021’s competition to be held in the Spring.
