As the Director of Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Scholar Support, Cinnamon is responsible for providing one-on-one direct private support to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars as they navigate academic problems, conflicts, or other issues related to their time at UConn. She helps connect students to resources available and serves as support in problem solving and determining next steps.  Cinnamon also consults with and advises graduate faculty in various matters regarding graduate students such as mediation, policies, and student development. In addition, Cinnamon oversees the management and coordination of The Graduate School’s Complaint, Appeal and Hearing Procedures a process available to graduate students who wish to file an appeal or complaint (see procedures for details).  Part of her role is also the coordination of Graduate Student Orientation, in which she works with the whole  Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Affairs team to design and implement.

Cinnamon has been at UConn for almost 20 years and has served in a variety of student support positions including a Residence Hall Director in Residence Life and Assistant Director of Community Standards.  In each role, Cinnamon has served students with a focus on conflict mediation and promoting student development through coaching and advising.  Cinnamon’s interest/passion areas include Race Restoration (DEI), mediation, Power Non Defensive Communication, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Photography. She received her BA in Psychology from Western New England University and her MS in College Student Personnel from Miami University (of Ohio).
