American Association of University Women
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the globe. Fellowship and grant recipients perform research in a wide range of disciplines and work to improve their schools and communities. Office of Science Graduate Student Research Program
science.energy.gov/wdts/scgsr/
The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science (SC) established the DOE Office of Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE SCGF) program in 2009 to support outstanding students to pursue graduate training in fundamental research in areas of physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, computer and computational sciences, and environmental sciences relevant to the Office of Science and to encourage the development of the next generation scientific and technical talent in the U.S who will pursue careers in research critical to the Office of Science mission at DOE laboratories and in academia.
The DOE SCGF is a three-year award, providing partial tuition support, an annual stipend for living expenses, and a research allowance for full-time graduate study and thesis/dissertation research at a U.S. academic institution. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and either a first or second year graduate student, or an undergraduate senior at the time of applying, and must be pursuing or plan to pursue graduate study and research in areas relevant to the science programs supported by the DOE Office of Science. Applications are subject to rigorous peer review by external experts based on established merit review criteria.

National Science Foundation
NSF Graduate Research Fellowships
The National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) helps ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science and engineering in the United States and reinforces its diversity. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees at accredited US institutions. The NSF welcomes applications from all qualified students and strongly encourages under-represented populations, including women, under-represented racial and ethnic minorities, and persons with disabilities, to apply for this fellowship.
NSF Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Program
https://www.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/sts-science-technology-studies
The STS program draws from a variety of disciplines: anthropology, communication studies, history, philosophy, political science, and sociology to address the broad spectrum of STS research areas, topics, and approaches. Within this tradition, the STS program supports the NSF mission by welcoming proposals that provide an STS approach to NSF research-focused Big Ideas.
Spencer Foundation
The Spencer Foundation provides individual fellowships to doctoral students at the dissertation stage and to scholars engaged in postdoctoral work. Both programs support research related to education and are administered by the National Academy of Education (NAEd).
The Dissertation Fellowship Program seeks to encourage a new generation of scholars from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields to undertake research relevant to the improvement of education.
The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is designed to promote scholarship in the United States and abroad on matters relevant to the improvement of education in all its forms. Scholars anywhere in the world who have completed their doctorates within the last five years, and who wish to conduct research related to education, may apply.
