3MT Three Minute Thesis Competition

What is the 3MT® Three Minute Thesis?

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) celebrates the exciting research conducted by Doctoral students around the world. Developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), the competition cultivates students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills. Presenting in a 3MT® competition increases your capacity to effectively explain your research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to an intelligent non-specialist audience.

How to Compete?

Competitors must be in a UConn Ph.D. program and have completed at least one full year of coursework and be working on a research project. Competitors are allowed one PowerPoint slide, but no other resources or props. Information will be forthcoming on 2021’s competition to be held in the Spring.

What are the Prizes?:

Prizes of professional development funding are awarded to the top three winners of the UConn competition. The first place winner will be the University of Connecticut entry into the Universitas 21 (U21) 3MT international Competition.
